If you are visiting this site, you likely saw one of my pieces in a museum gallery or a local boutique. You noticed immediately that these aren’t the dark, heavy clocks of the 19th century. They are bright, whimsical, and distinctly modern.
My name is Keith Lee. In my Delray Beach studio, I reimagine the classic cuckoo clock for modern life. I take the spirit of the Black Forest tradition—the joy, the bird, the hourly celebration—and give it a new life in Florida.
The Process: Digital Precision, Human Touch
Every Coastal Cuckoo starts as a digital blueprint.
I design each layer of the clock using modern CAD software, ensuring that the architectural lines of the lifeguard stands and the organic shapes of the flowers are perfect.
- The Cut: I use laser-cutting technology to slice through sheets of wood with sub-millimeter precision. This allows me to create intricate details—like the individual petals on the Bloom edition or the railings on the Lifeguard series—that would be impossible to carve by hand.
- The Craft: Once the parts are cut, the machines turn off and the art begins. Every piece is sanded, primed, and hand-painted in my studio.
- The Assembly: Finally, I layer the pieces together by hand to create the 3D depth that makes these clocks look like kinetic sculptures.

While the outside is a custom piece of art, the inside is designed for modern convenience.
